Ex-Rockwall doctor Jacques Roy and his cohorts wooed about 11,000 Medicare sufferers with promises of cash, food stamps and groceries as part of an almost $400 million home health care scam, federal authorities claimed.
Wednesday, a federal jury in Dallas discoverer Roy guilty in what is considered to be the nation’s greatest home health care fraud involving a single doctor.
Authorities claimed that Roy and his companions recruited fake patients — involving some of Dallas’ homeless — to submit the bogus health care claims, prosecutors claimed.
The jury deliberated less than 2 days before finding Roy guilty on 8 counts of health care fraud, 2 counts of making a false statement relating to health care matters, one count of obstruction of justice, and one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
