A 24-hour urgent care ted with an emergency room combination opened on the day of Friday across the street from Westlake Shopping Center, filling a long-time empty lot.
The new 8,432-square-foot Neighbors Emergency Center and Next Door Urgent Care, 2015 35th Ave., is the 1st freestanding hybrid facility that Texas-based Neighbors Health Systems has managed. There is over a thirty-person staff, four of whom are physicians.
The facility depicts the essentials, like patient rooms, emergency rooms (ERs), an on-site laboratory and imaging services, but it also has other amenities such as a coffee station and charging stations for electronic devices.
The combination of an ER and urgent care under one roof will hopefully get sufferers to the right place when in a medical crisis, stated Facility Medical Director Ken Bassett.
“If you are capable to go to your primary care doctor about (the problem) and they can fix it, but they are not capable to get you in that day, that would be an urgent care situation,” Bassett claimed. “When you are having a heart attack — that is a big deal — so you cannot merely go to your doctor. That is when you go to an emergency room (ER). We can do both here.”
Bassett claimed having both options under one roof will finally save sufferers who go emergency rooms for urgent care problems from massive co-pays. That is another perk of an emergency room and urgent care marriage — sufferers will not have to worry about being overcharged for services, Bassett stated.
Both Basset and Facility Director Valorie Peaslee earlier worked for North Colorado Medical Center. They claimed that they are ready to begin seeing patients, and they are looking forward to a new change of pace in the medical world.
“This is an ideal location,” Peaslee stated. “With the shopping center, and the school down the street, and the surrounding neighborhoods — it actually is a neighborhood care center.”
